| Was the information true? Schools should be for learning and not hiding the truth. There is much about our past as a country we don't want to hear. We don't like to hear that the Holocaust of the Native Americans was the worst ever. It happened.
Burning books is not the answer nor is hiding the truth. I think our objection is that an outsider butted in. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I object to any religion forcing their views or dogma on me nor would I allow it for my children. I follow my own spiritual light as I see it. The school is not the place for promoting any religious philosophy. That doesn't mean one should not learn about the history of religion. Religion exists.

| That's not my objection, Abe, but I need to compose my thoughts before posting. I do object to the substitution of Allah for God in our Pledge of Allegiance for whatever purpose. | |

| Brenda, I agree with your objection. Although Allah and God are the same figure, if one is using English as the language, then the word "God" is right and appropriate. | |

| You're more knowledgeable about Islam than I am, Abe, so much more I feel like an elem student compared to you. While I've read that Allah is 'God' to them and can understand that it's supposed to be simply a language difference, I just cringe at the thought of our Pledge being spoken using Allah instead of God. | |

| Allah is the Arabic word for God. Muslims believe there is one God and his Prophet is Mohammed. They see Christianity as having one God and his prophet is Jesus. There is much similairity between the two, however I find that few live their religion. The same can be said for Christianity. To many, the word, "Muslim" or "Christian" is a title. When it comes to any adversary, it is prudent to learn as much as you can about them. Keep in mind that 1/3 of the world is Muslim. It is said that they intend to take over the world via reproduction and they are working on it while the West is doing their best to prevent reproduction. Something more to think about, eh?

| I think the West encourages responsibility, at least that was what I was taught years ago, so I only had the one child. I know several families who keep having children as if it were a test to see how many they can produce. Are they able to provide for them? Not always. | |
