Republications have taken the Senate. Do you think that will make a difference?

What Don said.

My wife had a Doctor's appointment yesterday morning.  The Doctor asked me, "What do you think of America's election results?"  I shook my head and he smiled. Then I said, “It seems that people vote against their best interests.”  He agreed.
America was once a beacon for the world.  The Western World tried to emulate America.  There was a dramatic change after GWB became President.  Trust was lost.  The healing process began with the election of Obama.  Many people I talk with believe that America’s resistance to Obama is racial.  They see Obama as a man trying to help the working class – the common man.  His effort to introduce a universal healthcare program was applauded.  Universal Healthcare is a human right in Western Europe.  The Party that opposed Obama’s humanitarian policies has gained more control in government.  Money power Brokers like the Koch Brothers, spent huge sums of money to influence voting.  In general, Advertising is used to promote products.  Some of those products include religion and politics.  Unfortunately, religion is used as a tool for political gain.  We witness the action of religious fanatics (ISIS) in the Middle East while ignoring the threat of religious fanaticism at home.  History tells us that it is not a singular dogma, but all fanaticism that leads to conflict

I'm not sure, Don. I've been pretty unhappy about the way I voted a few years ago, especially seeing how our values are eroding. I was ready for a change. Whether or not I'll regret this new change remains to be seen.

I agree with you on that one, Don. My husband served on the U.S.S Iowa in wartime, both my uncles, grandfather, father, and my son all served our country. I have high regard for all servicemen.

So if our country's values are not only eroding but sliding into the pits, why not a change in government? While I've totally lost faith in our politicians, I can't help but hope some new policies might help. Yet you say it can't get worse. Isn't it already in a pretty sad state?
