PostSubject: Agent Submissions - The 3 Error Rule   Sun Dec 28, 2014 4:19 pm

Here's what a known agent said about their submissions:

"We want clean copy. If there were more than three spelling or grammatical errors in the ENTIRE submission package—cover letter, outline or synopsis, and sample chapters—rejected. As far as the editorial director was concerned, if the author couldn’t be bothered to submit clean copy, it was a sign of disrespect; and the individual was going to be a problem during the entire production process."

She went on to say this is their rule:

"Three-Errors-and-It’s-Sent-Back-Unread rule."

L. Cooper PressL. Cooper Press agrees. We will not publish a manuscript that obviously needs copy/line editing. If the author doesn't care enough to make sure their manuscript is as error-free as possible, why should we care enough to publish it?
