Inland Empire Writers Circle Empty
PostSubject: Inland Empire Writers Circle   Inland Empire Writers Circle EmptyFri Mar 20, 2015 11:21 am

Sometimes writing is lonely, as family members do not always understand our need to isolate ourselves at times and create a different world, and it may difficult for them to accept. Therefore, we may live slightly apart from everyone else, even those we love.

We need the company of other writers. We need the freedom to be our special selves, to talk about our characters as if they're a major part of our lives - which they are - and to talk with other writers about the difficulties & frustrations we may be experiencing with the process.

So I'm starting a Writers Circle, one in which we can relax and socialize over dinner and talk about openly about our concerns. Have some good news? Have you published a book? Bring a copy and share the good news with us! If you've published in any other media, great! Share the info as well. We'll be your support group for your disappointments as well as share your excitement about your successes. Everyone is welcome.

I find that writing is often a good way to unload. No one wants to buy a book full of released frustrations. I think a place for that is an Author's Forum such as we have here. I like Brenda's idea, however only those within driving distance can take advantage of the eyeball to eyeball circle.

I love writers forums, but I sometimes get so involved that I have to pull away - for a short time. But I'll still browse.

We have many writers in the local area, so instead of the workshops I've led in the past, I'm hoping the get-togethers will be a fun option. We also have a couple of large clubs for writers in SoCal, but they're more formal. I occasionally attend, but most start around 10am, which isn't good for a night person. We'll see how this goes.

Good luck with your continued efforts to inform and assist. Those in your vicinity are fortunate.

Thanks, Abe. I think I'm more selfish that that; I simply love being around writers.
